Some springers and some centrefire rifles put a lot of strain on scopes and mounts.

And many centrefires are commonly used out to 2-3-4-500yards or more. Quality of build and glass is essential for scopes on these tools at these distances.

The most important thing with short range "back garden" scopes is that you can see your quarry clearly. Generally in these sort of situations you could expect change from £100 and get a perfectly useable scope.

Check out the likes of Hawke, JSR, Nikko Stering, etc

I have an AGS saphire mill dot on my .22 airsporter springer and works fine, bought it cheap on flea bay for less than £20 and its been great for the odd rat or rabbit, they are about £40 new I think. Spend a bit more money and the simmons whitetail classic is great for low light, have one on my rimmy and I havent had to alter the zero in ages and good clarity through the glass.
