jasper3
Hi all, I had a call from a friend today..he has been raving on about these pellets after giving them a blast, he said he tried all 3 sizes in the .177 and got his best results with the large size, he did say he needed to put at least 20 of each size through 1st just to get the bedding right any one else tried these jasp

Loved 'em - they looked clean and consistent, and grouped really well! I was so impressed I resolved to never shoot anything else, ever. And then I took 'em out on a windy day and couldn't hit a barn door with them. I think most of the 'Defiant-type' pellets have very light skirts in relation to the head, and I suspect that means they can be pushed out of line pretty easily by a breeze. Sadly, I'm back to the drawing board again. Daystate FT, Daystate Heavy, and now H&N FTT are the most likely pellets for me I think.
UKPoacher
I haven't found a gun that they are anything like accurate in .177 or .22. And as they cost more than JSB Exacts and AA Fields, and don't hit as hard due to over penetration I leave them well alone.

To be fair, on that calm day when I took them out to pop rabbits, they were *very* impressive. Each shot bang on the mark, and the rabbits fell over like wood. I wouldn't risk them now though. Each shot bang on the mark, and the rabbits fell over like wood. I wouldn't risk them now though. First time I tried them I shot a couple of woodies and they flew off leaving a puff of feathers behind. The pellet had gone straight through. Same day I clean missed a sitting hare at less then 20 yds. I then tried them on rooklings last May along with AA Fields and Superdomes in two different guns. They were the worst kill ratio by far. As for accuracy - they were the worst of the bunch in a five shot grouping using AA Fields, RWS Hobbys, RWS Superdomes, Accupels and H&N FTT in .22 and when I bought a trial pack in .177 and used them against my usual AA Fields and JSB Exacts along with some trials a mate sent including Crosman Ultra Heavy they were all over the place. Check out the Defiant Pellet forum and there are several references to 'fliers'. I also don't know anyone who shoots them competitively or any competition they have won. mart46
I'd heard good things about the defiants, so I bought some in 22. (mediums). They do fly fast and have a much lower arc than the AA fields (due to the weight difference!) however I probably wouldn't buy them again as there wasn't any difference in groupings as either Accupells or RWS superfields, and there were £5.00 more expensive! If you want light and cheap with a flat trajectory try RWS Hobbys. They are about the least expensive pellet you can get and they fly fast and straight up to about 30 yds. celticwar
I sent my superten to jb. for blueprint and he said mine liked defiants . large. most BSA .22 barrels do. he said not all the 177 BSA barrels like them . I've not notice much diff in windy conditions. as for power at the target I found them really good. they fly so fast. as for exterminators I tryed them. but my rifle didn't like them. I've found it likes defiants. long range golds. jsb.
