pbickerd
What about if you had a 24 inch barrel and the person next to you had 32 and you both had half choke but you stood 8 inches in front (and to the side) would it be the same then? Ok so now im just deliberately trying to confuse people
Delbert
If you look at game guns you will have two different chokes tight and open as you walk across the field following your spaniel a pair of Partridge flush, your first shot would be the open choke as the bird is closer as that bird drops you address the second bird which has now covered another 10-15 yds firing the tighter choked barrel. If theory is correct the pattern of shot should be approximately hte sameas it reaches each bird and you now have a brace for the bag. If you apply that logic to clay shooting then a pair incoming you would shoot the choke barrel first when the clay is further away and the open barrel as the clay is closer. On a layout where you shoot a rabbit and a going away bird open for the bunny tight for the high bird. Me? can't be bothered when clay shooting I just put a pair of chokes in as open as poss and if not just use my 302 auto one barrel=one choke which is pretty tight about 3/4 . An old friend suggested a different strategy when practicing choke up as tight as you can for competion open chokes. Your Choice. racingfrank7
Clear as mud for me then! Could explain why I cant hit a barn door at blah! Could somebody advise me please what chokes and cartridges I should use for a clay shoot with my Silver Pigeon 5 30" ? please Should I have both barrels with the same size choke etc? Please make it simple if it can be. Ian I use skeet and 1/4 in my silver pigeon 3 for everything, i just change my cartridge to suit. Eg bigger shot size the further away and smaller the closer. It works for me, i straightned two really high stands and two end of barrel stands at manchester clay club on the help the heros shoot recently with this. Hope this helps
