Pinewood magnet

Any one else have trouble with the pinewood magnet on the spring drillings. I screw it a good 10 inches (as instructed) into the ground but cant stop it from working loose resulting in not been able use it. They offer a tripod attachment as an optional extra but £33 plus postage seems a bit steep. I know the soil is pretty loose at the moment but thought Pinewood, of all products would be able to cope with this.

 

Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem and how to over come it.

bought the tripod with mine and it holds it steady in any ground so is worth it like you said could be a bit cheaper its only three pieces of rod with a thread on 1 end and a point on the other they then screw in to a collar that slides on the main shaft of the magnet itself.

not had a problem with mine, i screw it in until it goes soft then push it done till it stops and then a few turns to tighten, always been fine. only problem i had was the arms falling out but a drill and split pin stopped that one. i use it a few times aweek with hyper flaps, crows or pigeons and it just keeps running.

When the ground is soft, I tend to place my magnet on the tractor tracks, the ground is much firmer where it has been compressed by the weight of the tractor. \give this a go before purchasing the tripod, you may well be surprised.

Mine has the tripod and have not had any problems with it. As been said try the tram lines.

Had the same problem, used 2 ft of round bar bent it like a staple, then welded a 2 inch piece of tube to centre drilled it & fitted a grub screw, thread rotor leg through tube, screw into ground, push staple down till holding firm & tighten grub screw, works well in wet ground. Plus fits in decoy bag. Hope this helps
