Dunkield
I have just found this out, sorry if it is old news. If you have DSC1 (Deer Stalking Certificate Level 1) you will be covered for the large game handling as of 1st Jan 2006, provided you have read and understood the Wild Game Meat Handling Guide. You must submit a signed declaration to the DMQ (Deer Management Qualifications) to confirm this. I am guessing they don't test you, it is just a liability thing. Anyone taking the DSC1 in recent times, and in the future, will have this included - but for those who did it a while ago (like me) would be well advised to get the update. The BDS have said I will be contacted by the DMQ explaining the next steps to me in the next couple of weeks. The guide is downloadble or can be read here: Wild Game Handling Guide If you haven't seen it already, it's 110 pages long Edited November 15, 2005 by stuartp
Frank
I clicked on the link Stuart and all i got was a white screen?
Axe
Frank its a PDF file which means you need AdobeReader installed. If you have the program installed it might be because it is still loading, 120 pages on dial up would take some time to load.
Dunkield
Frank, If you want it, but can't get it from the link, PM me an email address that will accept attachments and will fire it over to you mate. Dunkield
As an update to this thread: I received all my paperwork through the post today from the BDS. All I have to to is sign the declaration that I have read and understood the guidlines and they will re-issue the DSC1 certificate with the 'Trained Hunter' status added. So them thar deer had better watch out, they have a paperwork trained hunter on their trail now B) Oh, and it costs £15 - what a surprise :*) never mind if I get new badge I can always ebay the old one!
