Little Devil
Hi Guys A little help if possible, I've just fitted a gas ram to my webly, did everything which the instructions said but for some reason the gun won't click and hold the gas ram when you cock it. I've dismantled it again and checked everything, cut the tube back to leave 2mm ( as one lot of instructions stated 4mm and one said 2mm so it was easier to try the 4mm first which I did but it wouldn't cock and hold) pertruding for the ram rod to sit in, rebuild and tried again but it failed again to "click" when you cock it. Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Thanks i think you'll find that you need to file the end of the gas ram shaft down some more
Little Devil
i think you'll find that you need to file the end of the gas ram shaft down some more You mean file the actual ram rod down a bit, I have't done anything to this as there is nothing in the instructions with regard to actually filling the ram rod down, I take it it's not a universal fit then?. The only bit it states to file down is the 2mm section ( after cutting) which is left on the tube/sleeve which the old spring used to sit on and which is secured with a roll pin. Do you think that the ram is actually too long then? I've attached a picture of the section which came out ( sorry my camera has broken so I've found this picture on the internet which is the same as mine) which links to the trigger section, the tube stickiing out is what the manufacturers state needs to be chopped off to leave just 2mm of pertruding tube to act as a securing hole for the end of the gas ram to sit in, this is what I've done and then rebuilt. hyflier
Your other post suggested you only cut 2mm OFF the spring guide... not LEAVE 2mm :look:
rtaylo29
If all fails (I will state the obvious) take it to a good gunsmith or experienced fitter / toolmaker. Little Devil
Your other post suggested you only cut 2mm OFF the spring guide... not LEAVE 2mm Sorry it was the way I worded it, leave 2mm on the spring guide tube, you have to do this otherwise the gas ram can't close. I think I may have to file the ram rod down a touch, it nearly latche's, you can see the trigger move and the safety start to retract to the safe mod but it's got a little way to go to get there, I wondering if the "universal fit" isn't all its cracked up to be. At the moment it would appear that the gas ram is too long and needs to be filled down a mil or two but I will have another crack at it, can't be beaten you know!!
