At long last...

At long last something is being done about my least favourite animal. For those of you that don't know, I hate Grey Squirrels. Luckily, IT's greatest ally is backing a mission for the great unwashed Sysadmins of the UK to go out and kill 'em all.

Look at this article on The Register for the skinny.

As an added bonus, Gordon Ramsey's tame food critic was encouraging people to go out and get the little **** and eat them last night. Gawd bless ya Mr. Coren!

It got up and started to run of couldnt beleive it . second barrel , once again centre pattern on the road 15 feet away . fur every where . I still managed to get to the ditch , couldnt find the body . I was using 6 shot 30g special pigeon . still I have scratched up another 8 for the cause and counting >

It HAS to be head shots only. They are amazingly tough. The skin is like hard leather, skinning them is hard work but worth it.

Even from a short range I have never had a pellet go through the other side, the skin always stops it.

I reckon they should make bullet proof vests from squirrels.

I saw my first Red Squirrel 3 weeks ago, it ran across a country lane and stopped to look back at the car - I thought "what the **** was that..

I realised that it was a Red Squirrel - what a lovely little animal, so much more character than those grey tree rats that we see so often.

The only problem was, I saw the Squirrel in Picardy, Northern France, not the UK, apparently they are quite common there, its a pity they are on the decrease over here.

Never seen a wild red squirrel :D

On our estate, the owner can't stand grey squirels.

If you stand anywhere on the estate, he will point out the trees that have been ruined by them. The tree growth is very different since the greys arrived, all the top branches are stunted and twisted as a result of then attacking the new shoots, they also strip bark as a hobby.

I can take some pics to explain this if anyone wants.

We do a squirrel shoot each spring  We also trap hundreds each year :P
