how do mil dots work

trying to explain simply here

 

at 100 yards on 10* magnification, one mildot = 3.6", so if you know the size of whatever youre looking at then you can work it out from that, on no magnification the average person would be about 2 mildots high at 100 yards (ie 1 mildot would be 36", so 2 would be 6ft) - dont point your gun at a human to check it, im just going by the sniper manual i read ages ago to explain mildots :good:

On the AGS swat scopes how are the mil dots used to judge distance etc. i got a rough idea but need some clarity if poss please.

The AGS scopes that I have owned have 'mil-dots' that are nothing like mil-dots. They had almost double the spacing of other scopes at around 10mag, IIRC.
