what type of moderator

Advise needed I recently bought a parker hale (midland) 308 that was screw cut I tried to put my T8 moderator (1/2 inch) on it but it does fit. I have used the tread protector from my Tikka T3 on the treads which goes on but is loose. Can anyone tell me what threading I have on the 308?

Also if a gun has been screw cut does it have to be re proofed to sell it?

Not sure about thread but it doesnt have to be proofed if you sell it face to face its only if you need to rfd it or some shops may ask for it before they take it in

It could be any threading.

 

Most mods will have a bit of wobble before they're properly screwed on. That's just the space between the two threads. Have you properly screwed it on? (careful you don't ruin the gun/mod by being forceful)

I have tried the moderator on the barrel it does not go onto my 1/2 inch moderator I did not try to force it and held the barrel upwards to let gravity try to get the threading

It may well be 3/8 unf, if thats the case, you need a new moderator. Take it to a gunsmith, they'll tell you the thread size
