shot shot
Ok, so the forms are due to be hand delivered into the firearms dept at Lisnasharragh tomorrow, but a few things need finalised. First of all, me and my da are applying at the same time, with the intent of sharing a cabinet, 1 gun each has been purchased, and we've been told that we need to write a letter to one another stating that we allow the use of one anothers guns, ie stating that they are to be loaned as such. But I can't figure out what I'm supposed to write. And then, on the firearms form itself, do we fill both guns in, or just the one that each of us "own"? Secondly, I got my uncle to fill in a "authority to shoot over land" form. But he left out the section where it asks for "the destruction of quarry" (as in, what can we shoot). This I have no idea about, because we're only applying for shotguns, I don't even know if it's relevant. Lastly, reasons for possession, we each have put in "for the control of vermin over farmland, and clay pigeon shooting" (or words there of). Now, I'm unsure as to whether we should be puting down game shooting, ground game and whatnot. It's important that this is got right, as I need to be able to use this (these) for rabbits and foxes, as well as rats, squirrels and feathered quarry help please

shoughton
A little different here - but I found my local gunshop very helpful when I applied as they gave me lots of hints and tips as to just what to write down. They obviously know the local 'normal' that the police are looking for. Failing that I'd be as thorough and as explicit as possible with all info on the form and suggesting that finer details can be discussed and agreed with the visiting FEO. I did that with cabinet location/fixing and I think they appreciate that. Good luck. Steve
monkeyboots
not to sure what way the loan thing works , but as for the possession/quarry thing i just put on mine that the semi auto was for vermin control, pigeons, crows , rabbits, fox etc and also for wildfowling, for my under/over i put down it was for clay pigeon and game shooting, just write on the destruction of quarry form just write down vermin, ie fox , crows pigeon etc, thats all ive ever done on my forms and its always been ok

On both of your applications, where it asks for firearms to be acquired, list both guns and state 'shared possession with XXXXXX at same address' If PSNI are not satisfied with the information you have supplied, they will contact you and ask for more - the local Firearms Enquiry officer will contact you to ask for clarification if any is needed, and a simple explanation of what you are doing given to him should be fine. There is nothing unusual about what you are doing - it happens often, so there should be no problem. If there's anything else you need, just let me know. Ian Thanks for the input Ian, the forms were hand delivered to Lisnasharragh yesterday. With the help of ozzy, I got the most of what you've said put in. I reckon there'll be some head scratching when they see the letters stating that the guns are to be loaned to one another, but I think all the other bases are covered. Thanks again for the help guys
