old rooster
Had a chuckle at some of the comments regarding Clarkson's destruction of cars on his TV programme and how it was wasting licence payers money. It seems to prove that some people are concerned about how their money is spent. Buying a TV and licence is a voluntary option whereas paying tax and council tax are mandatory, how must those same people feel about other abuses of their money. I was reading the Daily Mail the other day and they put a figure on illegal immigrants in the country at a minimum of 500,000, failed asylum seekers waiting to be repatriated at 250,000. This was in an article which suggested that the government had issued an order to immigration officials to turn a blind eye to illegal immigrants due to a lack of space to hold any more. Lets assume that each of these cost us £20 per week (likely to be much more when all the administration is considered) that's a total of £1.5 million per week, multiply that by 52 weeks and the annual cost is £78 million. So in fact the government (although unable to even guess at the true numbers) saying that illegal immigration is not really costing the country much is true, well at least in comparison with the £50 billion "black hole" that Mr. Brown has dug for us. Apparently the national debt is now equal to £52,000 per household in the UK, puts it all in perspective doesn't it !!! Still don't worry as some of the asylum seekers are at least trying to help themselves; it's now thought that the ******** who shot the police women in Bradford while trying to rob a building society are asylum seekers, how bl**dy cynical is that !!!! I for one don't want to see all these people allowed into the country but who the hell gives a toss about our opinions.
Browning
I think we should have a "Post of the month award". ORs post would win it hands down this month. Very well put OR.
Axe
This subject really does make my blood boil! It must have been 6 months or so back, when I realised just how bad things were getting. After following the news for some time about the immigrants, it was televised that the cost of prcessing a single immigrant was £70,000! Add that to your calculations OR. Yes, JC is pale in significance compared to this! Perhaps next time when he drops a skip on an unsuspecting Masserati Bi-Turbo, he'll at least have the decency of filling it up with immigrants first! old rooster
I suppose what really p*sses me off is that I've been running my own business for 15 years now, didn't get a penny of help from the government to start up. Risked everything including the roof over our heads on getting started and ever since have been paying tax through the nose. I get fed up with people saying "you must be earning a lot to pay all that tax", I do make a good living but the emphasis there is on I DO !!. I've also generated a lot of work for subcontractors one of whom started up a new injection moulding company on the strength of my work which now employs 20+ people. If I become unable to work I'll get sod all from the governement yet any disease ridden, antisocial plonker can walk into this country and get immediate wads of cash. When they call it "government money" where do people think it comes from ?, it's OUR money !!!!!. I'm 50 now and have been paying for 34 years non stop, I'm now wondering what age I'll be able to get a state pension, if there is any money left that the wasters who "govern" us haven't ****** away. If I'm responsible and save money I'm taxed on it when I earn it then again on any interest it might make. Is it any wonder that this country has gone to the dogs, what incentive is there for any decent person to roll up their sleeves and have a go in business ?. I'm not rushing about looking for more work, to pay more tax, which subsidises the destruction of our society, I'd rather be out shooting, ferreting and fishing (before the anti's finally get their way and have every bit of enjoyment banned). Axe
Im with you all the way OR. Similar to you, I work in 'our' family business and the really feel at times that we are unjustly over taxed. I know hundreds of customers that do not declare what they should and reap the benefits. Sometimes think we shouold too but we are far too honest. The government! well theres a contradiction, I suppose in fairness they do govern but very poorly. Our Service Manager was expressing his discussed in a slightly different matter but all related to the government. It was regards comments made, that the government would supply Digital TV to Council Tennants. I mean honestly, and without tarring all of them, but we know the sort, if they cant be bothered to get up off thier behinds and do an honest days graft to buy a new digital TV them why shouldnt the government give me a new digital bloody tele as well. I should have bought Brightons West Pier when it was avaliable, I understand that as its is not part of the UK, anyone living on it would not pay UK tax. BountyHunter
Without starting on one here - really we as the British electorate (sp?) are to blame. We had the opportunity to oust the bleeding heart lefties but didn't. I have said it before and no doubt I'll say it again but at least the Conservatives werent afraid to say it as it was. Interesting to see the Sky news vote this morning suggesting that 70% (I believe) of people thought Cameron would be the next PM - bring it on is what I say. SNAKEBITE
The cretins are too deeply entrenched BH. Whatever Government is in power the councils and local authorities do not change. It is these useless pi$$ drained shrimps with no spine .. etc etc that are undermining this country from the inside. These cancerous sacks are to blame and no amount of voting is going to get rid of them. Bring on the revolution.
