Laser dot

I am thinking of putting a laser dot on my rimfire for closer rabbits. Any one got any advice?

What is the maximum range available sights on the market give? Most seem to be a 5mw laser, is there any more powerful out there?

It would suit a the purpose for easier shooting when in the motor lamping on my own.

Do you mean a Red-dot or laser sight? I'm presuming you mean laser sight due to the power question; the most powerful i've seen are 200mW which can burst balloons from across a room and light cigarettes :good: I wouldn't get on of those however as they will almost certainly damage eyesight if you wave it in someones/your eyes. :good:

I've got a 40mW green laser which is ridiculously powerful, its easily seen in daylight and is a solid beam at night, with a range of at least 1000m. I bought if from fleabay from a chinese seller so i was highly dubious, especially as it was only £30 but i've had it on my .223 and amazingly it holds its zero  If you are getting one i'd recommend you get one with either normal adjustment turrents or allen key adjusters as a friend has one of the ones that you twist the front (like a chuckless drill) and its very hard to make even simple adjustments. Also get one with a separate mounting bracket to give you as much flexibility as possible and one with a simple on/off switch as the pressure pad ones always break.

I have a 200mw laser in the landy. It's great because you can point stuff out in broad daylight, such as fox earths etc.

However, I really think a laser strapped to a gun is ridiculous. If you really really want one for close range rabbits, a basic one will do. You don't want to burn a hole through the rabbit before you've pulled the trigger :good:
