Curly87
hey, Just wondering what sort of cost ur looking at to shorten a barrel of my CZ .22 and then get it rethreaded for the mod? Does the accuracy drop at all once its been modified? Tim
Dunkield
Lloyd, I got a quote for this last week and was £87 incuding P&P for cut, recrown and re-thread (the bloke I use is up north and I post my barrels up to him) I am sure if you got a quote down here it would be a fair bit more than that, and No the accuracy shouldn't be affacted. bobt
I had mine done a few years ago, think it was £20 mates rates, the rifle seems easier to shoot now.
Curly87
It sounds like it will be a lot cheaper than I had originally thought. As I do a lot of shooting from the back of the quad or land rover it will help if the barrel is a bit shorter, especially as the mod is reasonably long. Dunkield
If you are using a Parker Hale mod you can effectivly shorten the overall length of your gun by using a SAK. Trouble is you have the hassle of getting it swapped over on your ticket
Curly87
I just got a sako mod for it, Its unbelievably lite weight, made from aluminium and plastic baffles, i didnt have to get any paper work for it tho cus apparently if u trade in your old one at the gun shop its fine. Plus it might of helped that on my FAC the make of the mod was unknown. The other thing was once the barrel has been shortened does the gun have to be reproofed? Axe
As I understand it Lloyd, the barrel will need to be re-proofed only if your want to sell it on.
Dunkield
I just got a sako mod for it, Its unbelievably lite weight, made from aluminium and plastic baffles. I think you find the baffles are aluminium, mine were when I stripped it down (and wished I hadn't!) And Axe is right, it only needs reproofing if you are going to sell it on or for your own piece of mind.
Curly87
Nope the baffles are one Piece, molded out of plastic it weighs 140g's. Its proofed for .22 sub's but not high velocity which is fine cus i never use them anyway. Cost me £30, it was a find and a half!
