tungsten
Just got my new Sako 85 0.308 with 1:11 twist, for stalking. Anyone got any hints on the type of bullets this rifle might like?

Vince Green
1 in 11" is the current favoured twist on target rifles in .308/7.62. It should give good accuracy up to 168grn. above that its try it and see. Edited June 18, 2010 by Vince Green

I'm sure you know just as well as I do that it can be generalisations at best, two, apparently identical rifles off the productiuon line next to each other can favour different ammo.... Suck it and see is the only real answer!! PS My .308 Rem 700 SPS Stainless is 1-10 and I seldom use anything but 150g..it works...ATB!! :look: Edited June 18, 2010 by Dekers
Vince Green
Oh yes I agree absolutely. Every rifle is a law unto its self and similarly every shooter has different ideas on what constitutes accuracy. For one shooter a 2" group is mega accurate for another its rubbish. If it will bring down a deer at normal ranges (say 2-300yds) thats good enough. But if you want to shoot targets at 900yds you may have different ideas.
