reedbradshaw
Hello. Hoping to cull some foxes around a chicken coup tonight in the girl friends back yard. I would be shooting a 12 bore at the foxes who are circa 20 meters away. This would be shot from a high level to ensure that no shot leaves the boundary. The garden is fairly large (id say 30meters by 40 meters) and backs on to some fields (which i do not have permission on) and a private road which the mrs owns. The is only one neighbour about as its a farily rural area, ive let him know ill be shooting the foxes tonight and he has no problem with that. Foxes have been shot here before but not by myself. Just to confirm the nearest road is about 1km away . There is a nearby public footpath which is about 30m away. I will be shooting away from this and NOT be shooting towards this. Traps have been tried but to no avail. Am i right in saying that as long as no shot leaves the boundary id be ok to shoot these? I just want to double check thats all! What other advise would you give?
reedbradshaw
o and id be shooting 3inch 36gram BB's at the foxes through a full choke to ensure a good kill pattern at that sort of distance.
garyb
You will be fine. Worth calling the local Police contact centre and letting them know that you will be there though.
al4x
you'll be legal, just bear in mind were you to get a runner will the neighbour still be as keen if its in their garden. It does happen with shotties so be ready and if in any doubt after the first shot put another one in it for luck.
