A photocopy is meaningless. You can [or shouldn't] be able to buy shotgun cartridges with a copy. You couldn't go through an airport with a photocopy of your passport.

I carry the original and look after it :yp: Can't see a copy satisfying anyone, but I have a photocopy in case I lose the original for my records.

He asked if he could carry a photocopy..he didn't ask if he could buy ammo on it or travel the world??

Simple fact is he probably could, last time I was pulled by the law he actually admitted this was the first time he had ever seen a FAC!!

YES ..a photocopy is very useful, checks can be made through the PNC now onto the National Firearms Database that shows you are a FAC/SGC holder, a photocopy will help with this.

There are times you will need the original, but for day to day use a photocopy makes a lot of sense!

It's actually advised to keep a photocopy of your certificate with you, for that exact reason. It's made of paper, which won't last long if you get back absolutely drenched.

If you need to keep your licence near you, just leave the real version in the car. If you need cartridges, you'll 99.99% of the time need to drive to the gun shop, so you'll have it with you.

If you're stopped by the police, the PNC will confirm your photocopy, as it'll list you as a section 2 (and 1, if you have it) licence holder.
