berties
we have a 5 year old bitch white boxer though I trust her with kids and adults alike with, with dogs she is horrible when we bought her home she was shown the social ropes with our springer who died after a few months, she mixs well with my parents dogs and friends dogs(cockedors/labs mainly) but when she meets a dog who shows her any aggression or she decidees she dont like them she trys to pin them down it dont matter how big they are she pushs them to the ground with her chest, she has never bite a dog but she has been bitten many times,I can voice control her but she becomes apest on the lead with the wife, its just like she is the alpha female(not the wife),when she is at home she is a mild manored dog but when she goes out she becomes a good working dog with no tollerence to dogs ,any ideas of how to break her or is it now to late
WGD
Very difficult now mate, a boxer is a breed with an in built fighting ability and their natural stance can appear aggresive to other dogs so they get attacked and soon learn that the best form of defense is attack. IMO, at 5 YO and with other dogs having had a go at her you're in a very difficult situation mate, sorry.
al4x
I guess on the lead whenever other dogs are about and attempt to find some distraction to stop her going for dogs on the lead. My bitch is friendly as anything yet takes exception to any dog that gives her attitude and its far worse on the lead. Let her off and she doesn't do it. In your case I would keep on the lead and have a squirty bottle of water to douse her with when she shows agression. I'm with WGD though you will find it nigh on impossible to stop now

I'm with WGD though you will find it nigh on impossible to stop now she is better off the lead but will bark if you do not get her attention ie with a stick, we have tried to squirt her but as she has a snub nose she has been bought up to take water from a bottle especially in this heat so thinks the water is a chance to rehydrate, she tends to have local dogs she dislikes and hates little dogs and other boxers, and yes you are right if any dog shows aggression it is red rag to a bull, but she only trys to cover them like a bird of pray, problem is she is so sly if on the lead she wont make eye contact ,till level with the dog then attacks(i must say that is only local dogs)the ones that have attacked her first in the past, she is better after exercise, we live in hope
WGD
When you say you can control her by voice, do you mean you can stop her from attacking with your voice but your wife can't? The dog needs to see everyone in the house as someone to take instruction from, not just you. Easier said than done and certainly not over a forum where there is too much margin for error in the interpretation of the advice being offered. What about seeing a dog behaviourist?
