UKPoacher
I've just bought a Benelli 121 semi-auto that requires some stock work doing. Basically, the stock has previously been shortened to around 12". Subsequently two 1/2" wooden spacers have been added and the stock coated in horrible shiny red varnish. I've got the varnish off and the stock is down to the wood. The spacers are also sanded into line and the stock is ready for some truoil. I will be fitting a 1" recoil pad and understand that these may have to be sanded or shaped to fit properly. My question is; Can this be done after oiling or does it need to be done before I apply the oil? Cheers.
turbo33
If it were me, I would shape and kep fitting the pad until you are 100% happy. Remove it, apply your truoil the refit. Thats the way I did mine and it looks fine. There is a good tutorial on youtube for Fitting a recoil pad.Hope this helps.

Gordon R
I agree. If you try sanding after the Truoil, you can almost guarantee that you will mark the stock. Fit the pad to the stock - tape around the stock to prevent accidental contact and sand carefully.
