casts_by_fly
I'm guessing you don't have an Elite 5500 as no such creature exists. However if you have the 6500 (or any of the other current elites) then it is a second focal plane. Thanks Rick

For a first focal plane scope the crosshairs zoom as well when you change the level of magnification. So if you know which mildot is which for hold over/under at your usual mag then that will be the same for any mag level, for a second focal plane scope you'd need to know for each mag level which dot to use for a given range. Some scopes will shift POI when the mag level changes too, this can't happen with FFP.
