JMW
Guys, I have a mount to attach my camcorder to my scope which will give me night vision which I intend to use my .22lr for rabbit, rat etc at close range, say up to 50 yards. The problem is that the IR bulb on the camcorder is pants, plus when attached to the scope the bulb will shine on the scope mounts and nothing else. I don't need a designated night vision scope and this seems a cheap way to get some night vision. My question is this, would I be better off with an IR illuminator attached to the rifle, or should I get a hand held lamp? The lamps are cheaper but then at least the attached unit will be pointing in the right direction. If people recommend the IR illuminator torch type unit which is better for my needs the bulb version or the laser version? Thanks in advance Jon
steve_b_wales
To increase the vision on my Cobra Merlin, I have a scope mounted Blaserlite fitted with an IR filter. Using this set up (on my .243) I can clearly make out fox sized targets at 250yds+
GP1
Jon been doing night vision for over 15 years so my advice would be to buy one of these on ebay Item number: 280531692751 pay the extra and get the N1000AP with optional adjustable power switch. The person selling these is Clive Ward from here http://www.nvscopes.com/index.html

The laser doesn't eat batteries so just put the standard 3v in them.
