No offence mate, but you sound a bit mental in that statement.

1/ I'm pretty sure bombs/ bomb making/ having a collection of bomb making materials is illegal.

2/ what bearing does "being openly able to carry a firearm" have on your current shotgun application? sounds a lot to me like "look at me I've got a gun" rather than actually having one for a purpose.

:good:

Nope only thing I would ever use a shotgun for is clay shooting, and only view it as a sporting weapon. If I were in the USA I would own an AMT hardballer or a glock for self defence. I did ask for someone to speak to at my local police station but were less than helpful merely saying, "we don't deal with firearms"

silverballer, there is some really good advice for you on the thread.

we are just trying to help.

but you have to understand that owning a shotgun is a serious responsibility.

you cannot make statements regarding having a desire for a gun for self defense, or refer to shotguns as weapons.

this might seem like semantics to you but if you said this to a FEO he would take it very seriously.

You should search through the old threads on the forum for others who were applying for the first time.

Well I might give them a call and explain a few things but if they're a half decent police force they should be willing to help rather than just disregard my application

The trouble is mate, what people are trying to say is, you have not come across all that well !!!

Being half decent would mean following the guidelines fella - If I had an application come in with no reference I'd bin it to be fair. The rules are there for a reason, I expect that with recent issues that they are going to get tighter too. So if an application came in with no referees there is no ******* way they should be considering it, covering letter or not.

All you can do is find out who the FEO is for your area, get in touch with them and maybe arrange to see them or find time to speak to them on the phone in order to work out the best solution. Shoot captain as a reference might be a good call, parent of a friend might work too but really it is in the hands of the FEO.

Sure

Yes - sure. If you think an SGC application form is too much of a ballache to fill in properly, wait till you get hold of some immigration forms. :good:

And you're already lining up the old Bill to take the blame. Of course, they've got nothing better to do than help you. It's all about attitude and you've got the wrong one

the other thing i noticed is that you mentioned speeding convictions in your note?

i hope that you detailed (date and offense) any thing that resulted in points or conviction.

my wife didnt put it down and got a ####ing(well a nice talking too) as you have a legal obligation to disclose everything on the form.

they do actually cross check.

nb. he let my wife off because she didnt actually have to go to court or receive points so didnt count as a conviction. but it was still on the computer!!!!!!!!

Why? because I described a shotgun as a weapon? all firearms are potential weapons but I actually prefer to describe them as tools

It seems to me the more people try to help you the more stupid and argumentative you get.

Good Luck.

:good: please don't take this the wrong way but as i see it you are either a 'plant' looking for info, a reporter may be? or a fool, the hole you dig gets deeper and deeper, 'weapons' what a term :good:

To be honest I couldn't give a **** what a few people on a chat forum think, Its easy to hide behind your computer and be downright rude or unhelpful, I was just asking for some advice on the subject. I could care less what you would rather me call a shotgun, a firearm, a weapon, a pellet discharging explosive barrel device. I could care less what you make of my attitude based on a few posts I've made. Oh dear I'm digging myself a hole am I? oh yeah I'm a reporter for the daily mail, how did you guess?

Might have missed it in this thread, and apologies if I have, but what's the need for .410 ammo if you will be shooting 12bore at a club, SB?

I didnt ask to be restricted to .410 ammo but a .410 firearm, once I had got the cabinet set up but until I do, I only want to buy 12 gauge ammo for the 12 gauge gun I hire at the club. The reason why is because I like certain ammo better than others, different recoil etc
