wymberley
During summer and our much warmer evenings whats the best time (in the evening) to go decoying pigeon? Hi, Really, how long is a piece of string. Starting time has so many variables. As the evenings are now starting to pull in, I like to get out a bit early (yep, I noted you said evening) as although it may be a bit quiet you get the chance to snaffle a couple for the flappers or rotary so that you're all set up when they really start their last meal. What I would say, is that don't be in too much of a hurry to pack up. Cruising into the local sitty tree for a shufti tends to cease as it gets later and more often than not they'll come straight into the decoys. On a good day, the last hour can be quite hectic. The countryside will tell you when it's gone to sleep. Good luck, Cheers
steve_b_wales
I've always found that just after first light works well. Pigeons come off the roost and are hungry, so start looking for food. Same applies for Crows/Jackdaws. Early evening is also a good time as well.
roundy
I suppose what I should have said is "if I go to the other half's farm and setup around 6ish will I be too late?"

If your in the right spot, you should have some good sport right up until they go to roost.. I'll be out myself tonight at the same time..

Nope, just ignore what I said about taking the opportunity to snaffle a few beforehand. Cheers
