Thinking about getting into night lamping (shooting rabbits at night, not pigeons!)! What lamps have people used before and found good? Any pics of ur guns for me to see? Also advice on the approach u take when u get to the field, Ie, how to spot rabbits (would lamp in distance scare em before u get near) and also how do u get with in range succesfully or perhaps u sit and wait? what time do u go at?Any advice is welcome please help would love to see pics of peoples guns setup for this thanks again hope this is clearer now I have edited slightly Edited August 10, 2010 by Jamesleagas

henry d
No pics, but I use a HW35 with a Tracer Max as it has a dimmer, so you can control the light. You can then use it on lamp shy rabbits to get within 30m. Main thing to remember is to be as silent as possible and not use the lamp like a lighthouse. As for time to go out...... how long is a piece of string ? Different times of year will demand different times to set off. Once the crops are being lifted, go out an hour after dark as they will have to fill up quick before sunrise, once we get into winter you can wait longer. ccoope
I use a Logun gun lamp its small and lightweight and you can pick em up for about £40 on Ebay. Not a lot of range but bang on for an air rifle. As you step in the field shine the full field quickly, The rabbits eyes show up red. Turn off the lamp you will have an idea where the rabbits are and where to walk to be in range. If they have'nt been lamped before they should stay where they are. Once you are in range get comfy flick on the lamp pick your target and away you go. If you get a kill don't jump up and run to get it as you may have a few sitters that are still in range. You can walk around and do this all night or sit outside a burrow and flick the lamp on every now and then and pick em off. I have found you bag up more if you go with a partner who uses a hand held lamp and spots them for you. You can use a red filter if the bunnies are spooked by white light. Happy shooting
