Frank
Went to my local range this noon, after finding from the wife this morning that my lamping was off for tonight, she had a meeting. Had an enyjoyable day, calm bright conditions and nice pair of rifles for company. Got a box of them CCI Velocitors .22lr High velocity. They seem more accurate then the sitngers, i tryd them at 100 yds, results below. The .223 was doing what its good at, grouping mainly 1/2 inch at 110yds. Pic below is a 10 shot group at 100yds, with the CCI Velociters, threw my CZ 452 .22lr.

rogo
Frank, Are you allowed to have silencers?..or do you prefer them without? Mike.
Frank
Hi Mike, We can have silencers, but we have to apply for one to our local Superintendant. It has to be a good reason aswell, (shooting public areas, hearing protection, ect) Their was a fella a while ago who applied for a moderator on the grounds to protect his hearing. He got refused and was told to get ear plugs. Its a crazy set up over here at times i can tell you. I got granted a Parker Hale Mod for my .22lr not too far back and find it excellent. Used it today for the first time with Winchester subs and got clover leafed paterns at 60yds. I will use it on bunnys at some stage, im sure it will be effective. :yp:
rogo
I am changing my HW hornet for a brand new CZ. It's the same style as yours. Good deal too £325. Can't wait. Mike.

Have i missed one i wonder? Anyway, they all look the same.
rogo
The only fun I think i'll have is trying to get an accurate load!
dunganick
do you handload? use the 35grain Vmax, they seem to be difficult to make inaccurate. my dad also uses some 'lil gun' powder (im no good with numbers, so cant remember the load) and remington number 6.5 primers (specialist hornet primer) remington brass (horrid stuff) and forster dies, so there is no run out the result is groups easily half an inch, pushing 1/4 of an inch. out of a 25year old CZ sporter with a meopta 7x50 ontop. lovely guns frank. Frank
Thats where i cant help you mate, sorry, never done reloading before, not permited in southern Ireland. I have heard that the Hornet can be fussy to reload for, as far as i know. Edited January 3, 2006 by Frank

kip270
Frank, Do you use the silencer on the .22rim with high velocity?? I do and find it helps with muzzle flip, it i use it without the .22rim jumps a bit when shooting high velocity, and i takes a bit of the crack out of firing. Frank
Did not know that Kip, thanks. I thought that mods did not make a difference when using high velocity ammo, as high velocity has a sonic crack? It works great though with the subs. I have not tryd the subs on quarry yet, im sure they will do the job with correct bullet placement. Them CCI Velocitors seem powerfull. kip270
Oh yes cci are good. Next time your at the range try the silencer on the .22 and you will be surprised. No different to using a silencer on a full bore, but it helps with muzzle flip, you will still get the crack from the bullet but not as loud.
