I know this is going to sound absolutely stupid but I cannot close one of my shotguns. Its an AYA no 4 sxs. I put snap caps in after cleaning gun last time. Opened barrel took out snap caps. Took off forend to clean gun

Cannot now put forend back to close gun. Also worries me that firing pins are protruding. Gun is now in three pieces and havent got a clue what to do next.

Please bear with me this is my first sxs - worried I have damaged gun

Any advice - would be grateful

The way i'm reading that is you're trying to put the forend on before locking the barrels into the stock?

Put the barrels on first, then fit the forend to the barrels.

Hello - thanks for advice

I can lock the barrel - forend will not fit to slide on to barrel after locking - think I must be overlooking something here -

Not had a sbs for years, but as stated, barrels into action before fore end. Also check that opening lever is across before mating barrels to action, not inline. Have had same problem with my ou, with lever. Don't know why it happens now and again, but does.

Whenever I find myself in these situations, I put the object (in your case a shotgun) down and walk away.

Do something else for half an hour and then go back to it. Usually hey presto problem solved and

everything fits back into place.

I have never owned or used a side by side, so I do not know if there are any minor differences.

Best of luck, and keep calm.
