Stealth Stalker
Missing the easy ones happens to the best of us I recall a certain person off here missing foxy no more than 20 yards from a high seat, the crater where there should have been a dead fox was pretty damn impressive That one I reckon even I could have nailed it with a brick. the running man
Hi, Well when playing golf at my local club in a inter club comp a few months ago i got drawn against the away clubs Sec. We got talking and when asked what i do i told him i was a pest controler, to which he said the only problem they had was Foxes. These were digging out and tunneling into the greenside bunkers . I got a call Thursday from him to take a look and give him a price on a cull, which i did the next day. Got the go ahead so asked if SS wanted to come along for the ride which he jumped at the op. We could only go to the course after the bar was closed and everyone had gone as they didnt want the members to find out what was going on. So told SS we would be leaving 10.30pm last night Dam, it started to tip it down around 7.30pm and carried on, SS phoned and said we should give it a miss to which i agreed :( went to bed around 11pm with it still tipping it down when i was woken with a kick to the head from my 3 year old as she climb into bed with me and the misses about 1am. I couldn't get back to sleep and the rain had cleared so was on the road to the golf club and arrived 1.30am. I started to drive round and had nearly done a lap without anything when i turned a corner and there looking at me were 3 sets of eyes . They were about 150yards away so i killed the motor and started to squeek them. Well it was like watching the plains coming into heathrow on a clear night one after the other they ran in with another set of eyes joining into the charge :o . I had to shout to stop the first Fox around 20 yards away, ''pop'' down it went . I stared to squeek staight away again and the Foxes that had stopped in there tracks soon kicked back into hunting mode and carried on coming in all bit it at a snails pace not sure what was going on. ''pop'' down went the second, this time the 2 left shot of into the bushes. After picking up the 2 downed i carried on back toward the Club entrance when i spotted more eyes, as i started to squeek yet another 2 sets of eyes popped up to see what was going on. The first came in which i dropped 40 yards out, the other two kept there distance but i was able to edge closer and closer dropping one then doing the same to the next where it had moved on too . I then thought that i would do another lap on as i reached the back of the course i saw more eyes, when squeeking the Fox ran in no problem and down it went. At this point i must tell you that i was useing my .22rim as this is a urban golf course and i was not aloud to use anything which could be heard from the local houses. Well when i picked this Fox i serched with the lamp only to see a Fox sitting watching from the bushes some 50 yards away. I put the crosshair on the center of his head and pop ''CRACK'' the bullet hit home, but wait the Fox picked himself up and slumped of into the bushes :o . How it done this i dont know, my shot placement was bang on. This was to happen too me twice more before the night was out :( which i am not pleased about and will go back before night fall and see if i can find any of the 3 . Anyway on nearly completing my second lap i saw more eyes so killed the motor and called it in. It came in to 30 yards and down it went, i carried on lamping and squeeking and managed to call another 2. both came to about 40/50 yards and sat watching giving me plenty of time to take the shot. In between the last few Foxes killed i spotted another 5 that just moved of away from the lamp, these will be harder to nail on the next trip I got back home 5am, i had a hot choc and went to bed Well a job well done, and i can get paid as soon as the damage to to the bunkers is sorted. Lets hope i got the ******* that are the problem. Though i think there will be a good few more to cull first. Cheers PELTMAN :( well done our kid, bumper night them foxes were havin a god damned town meeting! then u appeared, well done.
