Kudu
Well I must have tempted fate a while ago by saying how reliable my SX3 has been. That changed yestereday while pigeon shooting, and I didn't have a spare gun with me. It had to happen the only time during the day when the pigeons started to come in thick and fast The gun started to hardly eject the cart's out of the hide compared to the usual 15 feet. I put this down to just needing a clean. Went back to the truck and field stripped the gun but this didn't make any difference so I carried on shooting and had a better look when home. I then noticed the spring in the gas piston is broken and maybe another ring below it. Any body else had the same problem? I've just come across this site. http://gas-piston-springs.com/index.html

kent
Thanks for the link have saved it incase needed. Remember everything breaks eventually but it is unlikely they all fail with the same amount of use. I shouldn't hold it against the SX3 as a gun

May be unlucky. I use Express super game 32gm. I've just been up to my workshop to make the tools to strip it down...... and found this; http://i969.photobucket.com/albums/ae171/F...Vermin10001.jpg not only is the spring broke but the seating ring seems to be burnt away to the point of failure, I should think one component failed first stressing the other to breaking point. To be fair the gun failed to cycle around 5 times yesterday and I continued to shoot approx 125 shots. I,ve seen new auto's fail this much!! Kudu
Just an update. I purchased a spring from the website in Finnland. Good service from a great guy, he throw in the spacer ring I needed from a personal spare he had. Just been up to the workshop to fit the new spring/spacer then tried it out using some 24gm carts (it's not supposed to shoot these as it's 3 1/2 model). It shot fine, saving me a small fortune.
