.308 is full bore calibre and unlike most countries you can't just turn up to a range and pay to have a go. Some clubs will however arrange days for novices to try shooting for the first time, where they will have all the necessary arrangements in place.

All the otdoor ranges i go to in the NE are pay and shoot, you just need to take your FAC and competancy card.

You could try Carlisle Small Arms Club, as far as i'm aware they only have the indoor and outdoor 25m ranges but someone there might be able to point you in the right direction. :good:

If you're in the NE come over to 3 Counties, Ponteland http://www.tcsc.zxq.net/ You just missed a shoot yesterday, next one is 24th October. £10 walk on fee

I misread the orig post, sorry hdav, sorry breastman .this kids a newbie to all live fire,or a journo. U need ure own gun,ure own fac,to turn up and shoot at a private range.. No place in their right mind will let anyone in off the street loose on a firearm. With the exception of open evenings/days but even then I think u must register first. Clays is a little diffrent, but , I would be prepared for the cost,if u are a student.

I agree....yeah you need your own gear certificate and competency card pretty much anywhere, hence the recommendation to join the uni club who are set and experienced to deal with newcomers.

I have to say ryan you seemed to have ignored all the advice and continued to ask random questions, sorry if the offends but i smell Troll
