Out in the field....

Went out today even though the weather was rubbish, and whilst scouting one of the fields I shoot over, I noticed they were discing one of the fields next door. There was also a pickup parked by the tractor and the two blokes were busy talking. My immediate thought was it must be the farmer, so I wandered over.

After a brief chat I now have permission from another farmer. The moral of the story is, if you see anyone in the fields, wander over, be polite and enquire whether they are, or know the farmer. Let them know who you are, what you do and if they might consider allowing you to shoot vermin over their land. You never know, you might just get that all important permission.....

Well done, you dont get if you dont ask :shifty:

All my permissions link up 6000 acres over four farms,i just went and asked if i could shoot on their land and that i was shooting for the adjacent farm etc and no probs,i can now choose where i go or where the pigeons are to be more accurate  ,can spend hours out lamping without going on the roads and several woods for roost shooting,i consider myself to be very lucky as i have now had my sgc for one year and my fac for a couple of months.

I have just helped out a farmer with his Land rover, repairing it, FOC of course, he had let me shoot on just one field and guess what I now have the whole farm, and it really amazing he has land all around Ipswich and the surrounding villages, I didn't even know was his, some of it meadow land which I thought belonged to another farmer with no chance quite surprisingly its within 5 Min's of my house! lucky old me

He is also going to chat to his neighbours to let me shoot on their land.
