Browning Maxus

Have used them in the SX3 which is basically the same gun, they do Bump a bit but nothing to be scared of. Follow up shots are harder and there seems to be a little bit of torque involved as the gun tends to twist a little (could be a mounting fault of mine though). They don't often pattern as well as 3" though and bearing in mind the extra cost they might be a case of one step forwards and one back? I see the Yanks are using special after market extended chokes designed for 3 1/2" to help the patterning issue

Could anybody who has fired a Maxus with 3.5 in magnums, tell me what they are like for recoil?

The felt recoil is surprising low mate, theres very little muzzle flip which makes for quicker follow up shots.

I have tried some Remmington Wingmaster HD's, Remmington Nitro steel and some 3.5'' home loads through mine, Id say Browning's claim of ''being the softest shooting auto'' is pretty accurate.

The only other gun I think is in the same league (felt recoil wise) would be an Xtrema2.

Without doubt 3 1/2" shells will bump more than a 3" . The above poster seems to like his Browning but the SX3 is basically the same action and if i loaded you gun with two 3" and one 3 1/2" you would know which one was the 3 1/2" but still very useable. I put some 3 1/2" lead through mine and the muzzle became much more lively but remember the actual weight of the load is less with steel

Many thanks for the comments, it seems that the Maxus really is as good as the hype says.

Think i will be ordering one next week in synthetic black.

If you intend to use it wildfowling on the shore, I have been told that the black guns attract rust a bit easier than the camo ones, apparently the camo wrap helps protect the metal from rust a bit better

Do you use the wingmaster as sparingly as I?

They have to be the most expensive commercially loaded cartridge on the market, but they are good........

Your right there buddy used a camo gun for ages got my new benelli recently used it on the 1st of september wiped it over when i got home went to use it on the 2nd the barrell was covered in rust and when i say covered i mean there was nearly as much rust as black no word of a lie ill take some pics tomorrow and show you this is very good advice, and after talking to a couple of friends it would seem this is common ill never make the same mistake again thats for sure, although im not happy it has rusted im not to bothered that it has, as it was brought as a fowling piece and shall stay so and ill never get rid of it as i love it apart from that.
