Bucks is a bit of a desert for duck & goose shooting unfortunately - I'm always on the lookout so will drop you a PM if I hear of anything!

I can't help with getting you guys some shooting but Bucks is far from a desert for Ducks. There are loads of gravel pits, lakes, etc holding tons of duck. Take Tring reservoirs for example, they hold several hundred wigeon, several hundred teal, several hundred divers, and I personally have seen every species of duck that you can shoot there. They are probably no more than 4 miles from Aylesbury as the crow flies and thus are well within a duck's flying distance each evening. My dad, my bother and I shoot approximately a dozen ponds between Bicester and Tring. Some ponds are what you'd call average with maybe a couple of dozen ducks visiting a night, but some spalshes in particular that we shoot on private land have in excess of 300 duck visit them a night. Last year on a pond no more than 5m in diameter, situated in the middle of a sheep field, my dad and I shot 17 ducks between us and we stopped earlier than normal. We shared a gun between us and the duck's were still pouring in while we picked up. That night we picked Mallard, Teal, Wigeon, Gadwall and Shoveler.

I know it is very hard to find land to shoot on in Bucks but any pond, properly fed will attract good numbers of ducks. If you already have a permission that doesn't have any water on it, I advise asking the farmer if you could dig one. I know it is a long shout but if granted permission, you would have a very good piece of shooting on your hands.

I wish you good luck in trying to find some duck shooting and I wish I could help but most of the ponds we shoot on are through invitation and the ponds on our permissions are owned by landowners who like strictly no guests.

Cheers, Cameron.
