sitsinhedges
My clay shooting is pretty stagnant, getting maybe 60-75% kills including hitting the first pair decisively then missing subsequent pairs Wondering how to improve my shooting from here, any exercises or methods I can use to move forward and increase my kill rate. Any ideas
COACH
This is so common in clay shooting, it happens to just about every one. You get to about the 70 mark and that`s it . What you need to do now is go and see a VERY GOOD COACH. There are a lot of things you now need to know and be very aware of and practice to get you up to the next stage.(80/90) The average shot does not now these things and now struggles at this stage. A GOOD coach will have you doing what the top boys are doing. Edited September 28, 2010 by COACH

Can't it be done without paying £55 an hour though Money's so tight right now I can hardly justify shooting let alone paying for a coach aswell That's why I'm trying to get some free advice from the forum members who can
COACH
In that case find a mate that shoots a lot better than you and go with them and get them to tell you what they are doing exactly, but unless they are at least an A class shooter your not likely to learn that much. You can give tips on things on here but it`s not that good as I v done that before only to find the on line pupil is not doing anything that I have said when I eventually get to meet them. Spot on advice. Even then, an untrained "mate" cannot help you as much as a trained trainer. Reading books can help but ultimately it's up to you. According to the books my stance is wrong but it works for me. When it's time for me to progress I'll go to a trainer. Hopefully I'll be wise enough to listen! HDAV
I am sure you can find a coach that can assist you, a clay angel lesson and some dry practice may go a long way to helping without massive cost. The way I look at it is spend £100 not getting better or £100 getting better... What are you shooting? Sporting? VicW
hitting the first pair decisively then missing subsequent pairs This is a very common problem particularly if it's the last pair but the solution is often the same. I find it's concentration, you clean kill the first pair and it's then too easy to relax and think you have cracked it. Don't relax, take a deep breath and concentrate hard on killing the next pair and so on. You know you can do it,you just did with the first pair so concentrate hard and do it again!! Vic.
