the running man
Hi guys, been looking to buy a 30 06 rifle been offered a good condition Parker Hale for a good price, anyone got experience of these rifles?hi,I'm a bit of a 30-06 enthusiast, just bought a p17 with bayonet,in full U.S. Military spec/issue. The 30-06 is listed In "cartridges of the world". As the most diverse hunting round in the world. The parker hale is ok,but outdated really for the uk market, hence the cheap price. Bet its not screw cut? And the action and triggers on them are of that period and not the best. But having said all that,if u need no moderator and ure happy with range tests, then snap it up. 1 word of advice load it down for a distance u will be taking deer at, it will kick like a mule without a mod. And factory ball ammo is designed for 1000 yards and that kicks. P.s. I can see barry from my house so pm me if uve any probs.
garyb
I have one in .308 and it's a superb tool. Stupidly accurate, and perfect for stalking. The action is based on the Mauser 98, and it has an adjustable trigger which is more than suitable for my needs! I know of at least another 2 or 3 that shoot as well as mine. There's a guy on BBS who shoots oranges at 300+ yards with his Not sure about 30-06 as it's a bit hotter than 308.

harv
The first fullbore rifle I owned over 20 yrs ago was a parker hale scout in 308,laminated stock with a short bull barrel with muzzle break. It was a pleasure to shoot and very very accurate, the only downside been a sloppy magazine where the lugs wore making the mag sit too low resulting in misfeeds. Whether it is because it was my first rifle I don't know but I wish I had kept it.
