Hello all

just had first lesson and the instructor established i am left eye dominant, so had me shooting left handed which seemed totally alien to me but got easier as time went on

the instructor says its my choice either shoot right handed (left eye closed) or open and miss alot or persevere left handed and become a better shot

my question is what should i do anyone else been in this situation does it get easier left handed as even the stance is another thing to think about

or should i stay right handed as i would rather start one way and stay that way

i am a right handed but have always picked a gun up left handed, and i could not understand why, until a school medical that found i had lost quite a bit of sight in my right eye. the other thing that i found that made a big differance was getting a left handed gun.

you will pick it up as time goes on.

The other anoying thing is the cagey right handers (lol) always but the empty shell buckets on the right! on DTL etc

keep at it you will get there

Good luck and enjoy your shooting. Im right handed, left eye dominant and shoot right handed. I used a fibre optic thing for 6 months (TRU-HIT) i think it was which although didnt cure dominance as claimed it did help slightly. I just close my left eye but keep both open when picking up and mounting the gun. I get on ok with this set up plus theres more choices for rh guns. Good luck

I am also right handed but lost most of my sight in right eye a few years back. Same as you i went to a coaching instructor started to shoot off left shoulder very strange in the beginning but after twelve months and lots of dry mounting in the back yard its now as natural as using right. Persevere and good luck.

a Left handed gun makes a difference, but any will do to practice mounting. I was told to practice mounting in front of a mirror 10 times then leave it and then again, and keep doing it everyday/evening for about 3 weeks. I was sceptical but it makes a huge difference.
