neil
Ive just got an Anschutz xiv but that was 380,everyone says CZ are very good for the price so it may be worth taking a look at them
sean johnston
Where did you get your anshuntz from neil?
neil
Hi Sean,i got it from prestige firearms, which is basically a chap who is a rfd who operates from home,i cant recomend him enough,he's a top bloke with top prices, unfortunatly i only found out about him after i got my beretta as he could have got one of those for less than what i payed although i cant remember what exactly now.He is based about 30 miles from me and you can go see him in the evenings which is handy if you work i was introduced to him by a mate, when we picked up my rifle we left here at 12.30 am and a guy turned up at 11.30 after lamping for some .22lr ammo.He is "open all hours" and as i've got o know him better i've realised that this is the norm (i think hes nocturnal)
neil
And thats for a walnut (not the beech version that has been discontinued)stock wich he picked out for me from another dealers stock whilst on his travels  You cant beat one to one service
red_stag88
Anshuntz are so nice that the could tempt the pope into stealing... We have them at the school range but thery are only target rifles. They oftern advertise in the Shooting Times. One word of advice use subsonics if you are having a silencer or else it is useless. NeVeTaS
Anshutz (pic of mine below) or Sako, cooper are also good but LOADS OF MONEY. As for best budget, would have to be the CZ. My Anshutz 1710 My Anshutz xiv
neil
What sort of moderator have you got on the 1710 NeVaTas??
NeVeTaS
It's a PES 'over the barrel' job. Only adds 2" to barrel length. Extremely quite. They are like reflex, but better made IMO. You can get them custom built to fit any gun.
neil
How do they fit onto the gun steve?are they threaded onto the end of the barrel like a nomal moderator or are they clamped?
NeVeTaS
Hiya, the barrel has to be threaded, they then slide over the barrel and screw on. Extremely quite!
sean johnston
Hi steve. Are the slip over the barrel type silencers very expensive for a rimfire?,i think one would be good on my sako varmint as a normal silencer makes the barrel length very long and nose heavy.
NeVeTaS
Unfortunatly they are not cheap, they are made to your sizings and mine was £180. You can have them in any colour, thick, thin, whatever you like. Just see the add for PES in the back of GUN MART.
sean johnston
Yes that is very expensive.I am thinking of changing my .22 sako this autumn for either the sako hunter which is a lot lighter than the sako varmint or a anshuntz X1V. neil
one thing that i can say about the Anschutz is that it balances like a dream with a moderator fitted(it must be designed that way)as without the moderator it balances slightly stock heavy,i'm really looking foreward to putting it through its paces when my new scope arrives next week
NeVeTaS
The Sako is more accurate at longer range, the xiv is lighter with a nicer trigger.
sean johnston
Is the accuracy difference because the sako has a longer barrel steve? Also do you know anything about the sako finnfire hunter (light barrel)? i have the varmint one (heavy barrel) which is heavy to carry.Do you think there will be much difference in accuracy between the two sako's.?
NeVeTaS
The longer barrel does help to stabalise the bulet slightly, but anything over 16" velocity starts to tail off. I would imagine the heavy barrel to be slightly more accurate at longer ranges. However for 'hunting' use, all the anshutz and Sako's are more than good enough, it's only when you want to start going mental on the range you will notice the differances I would imagine. I know what yuo mean about the weight, the 1710 weighs about double my xiv, but is great for long range shots from the landrover A Sako, with cutdown barrel, and PES silencer would make quite a tool
