would just like to say thanks to tom for the 3 days i have had with tom this week

anyone who has met tom will no hes a top guy and a top guide infact i think he is at the top as guides go.

i have been out with tom many times now and he is a top guy all bye the way were free.

but after seeing his offer at £30 pound per day i snatched his hand off and booked 3 consecutive days out.

day 1 and 2 was steady and bloody cold think i got about 30 in the 2 days

but day 3 was totaly different we set up on some fresh drilling and they came in steady and had 6 in a couple of hours plus missed birds.

as i was sat in my hide tom had gone on his recky trip which he does all day to make sure the birds arnt hiting another crop :D

about an hour later i saw tom marching up the field at speed which i new something was wrong cos tom doesnt run at all

anyway he said do you want to move cos ive found the birds and they are in there 1.000s

so as anyonewould we were packed up and on route for said place :good:

as we arrived there was not a bird in sight and of course we cursed abit.

and decided to go to were he had seen them at the bottom of the field.

after setting up i was in the hide and tom made the long walk back to the truck to watch were the birds were heading to from the wood at the back of me.

after ten mins and seeing nothing i was thinking maybe it was not such a good idea to move :good: .

how wrong i was the birds started to come in on mass within 2 mins i had 6 birds down for seven shots

and this carried on for about 2 hour they were coming from a wood at the back of me and there was thousands and i meen thousands of them

they were covering the tops of a massive wood.

my shooting got realy poor and i only managed 34 picked up and a couple lost in the back field. but if i was an experienced shot then a red letter day would have been a certanty.

thanks tom and see you on the 6th

Im glad you had a good 3 days mate ,like you said the first 2 days were are bit on the poor side which i was not so happy with but thats what it can be like tho day 2 there was good numbers but the low sun in the face did not help  . glad day 3 came good for you but it was i nice bit of luck to spot the birds heading for the field which for a start did not no was mine :good: All you need to do is change your gun now :good: think you were getting a bit peed off when birds were decoying a treat just for your gun to mis-fire . And your shooting has defo come on since you first came out with me so dont get to caught up with how many shots you had for your bag as long as you enjoyed it that what counts :good:

he does know his stuff and a nice guy to go with that i had a day with him last april and when we arrived at the rape field on the day birds were flighting over to the field. tom give me a hand on setting the hide up and let me use a couple of his nets due to hide site being betweeten 2 telegrath poles with no background so my 2 nets wasn;t enough. also a battery because mine run out on the rotary and a seat because i broke mine 2 days before when pigeon shooting and no time to buy another... after setting up..i shot 10 in first half hour;but they started pitching in 150 yards to the left of my position into a small wood surrounded by a horse paddock with horses in it.. tom came back to the hide 3 times in the day to see how things were going ..and i mentioned that the birds were pitching into the horse paddock....and obviously you can;t shoot in a horse paddock;but i wish i could of got underneath the flightline because a really good bag was on the cards i ended with 28 for 36 shots..not a bad day with flat calm weather;and i know as well as tom you need a good wind to keep the birds flighting.

just to add no guide can guarantee you will shoot 100 pigeons;they can only put you on a field that birds have been using and are feeding on;then its up to you how well you decoy and shoot if and when the birds play ball .

can;t count the amount of times me and me dad have set up on our own permissions on what looks like a very promising day and the birds just don;t come back being a wild bird they can do what they like .. thats pigeon shooting. :good:
