Went out for a stalk with my shooting partner who has just started stalking, I am "mentoring" him, a. so he can have the calibre on his licence ( Thats how it works with our FAO) and to give him as much help as he gets started. no big deal as we shoot together most times anyway. He has been having a problem having just bought a new Tikka lite 6.5 x 55 that he can not zero, we have tried different scopes, mounts and three different types of bullets, so he has been using my rifle, this was the sixth time out and while we had seen a few deer, they have been does or not good shots.

Wednesday evening we went out full of hope, he had just passed an exam to get promotion and was feeling good. we hadnt sen anything and the light was all but gone, luckily the swaro scope was doing its job and giving us that extra ten mins of light. he was just about to say lets go have a beer, when two fallow came into the field 70 yds out, He assured me that one was a buck, confirmed with the binos, a pricket small antlers one damaged and just could make out the pizzel so bang and off it runs, luckily into the field. about 100 yds of heart thumping anxiety over he goes stone dead.

the doe stayed with him even when we walked up, which was very touching, so I told her to wander off and come back in two weeks time !!

First deer so have to have the pfoto, out with the camera. oh no the battery has failed. managed to warm the battery up and tried again, brief working of the camera so took a snap shot before it failed. had to wait till we got home to see if I had caught hunter and deer. as you can see just got both in great relief

Last night we are out on the rabbits so had charged the battery and was feeling pleased as we had 30 + rabbits and two good sized dog foxes so got the camera out and no card !!!!! so put the back light on and had to use the iphone.. you never stop learning do you
