MC
I am not sure what the law says but I have used mine on the Beach near where I live. I usually firre it either behind my back or down my side rather than pointing it. I can't see any difference between a starter pistol and a kids cap gun, other than it may be a bit louder. I suppose that by waving it around in a public place you may get a little unwanted attention. Most of my dog training is done on private land so it isn't an issue. Maybe someone from BASC will respond. Cheers MC
Cranfield
I have a starting pistol that really excited the FO, when he came to inspect my new cabinet. I use mine for scaring pigeons, rather than waste a cartridge. The FO said it was OK to have one, but don't use it in Public areas, or leave it on show to the Public, or you might find yourself meeting an Armed Response Unit in stressful circumstances .
