waistcoat for beating?

My old waistcoat is in tatters. I need a replacement. I run the beating line at one shoot, so need to have pockets capable of carrying whistles, horns and walkie talkies. Ideally a game pocket at the back, and it must be tough. Deerhunter do various waistcoats, but their soft fabric is not very durable. Wax cotton would be OK I suppose, but ideally something a bit more modern.

I prefer a waistcoat to a full coat if I can get away with it as it's easier to regulate your temperature than with a coat, and given the bunch of beaters I end up with I sometimes get hot under the collar. Then there's my spaniel of course.... :santa:

Any suggestions?

I bought a Le Chameau coat this year for beating made out their 'Kotkor' fabric which is basically cordura. I have been really impressed how the fabric stands up to the most stubborn of brambles when I go trampling through.

They also make a matching waistcoat which I also have, although I don't wear it beating, its made out of the same stuff and is waterproof, windproof and breathable.

The waistcoat is called a Beaumont Gillet I think.

I have one of those cordura coats by the company who made them before they were bought by Chameau. Very good indeed. Lasted about 15 years of brambles and barbed wire with only a few tugged weaves of the thread. It's lost its waterproofness at last and needs replacing, but £300 is a joke for a coat. The waistcoat looks cock on too, but not the price. :whistling:

Wow £300? :hmm:

I paid £170 for the coat and £99 for the waistcoat.
