After getting advice from guys on this forum, ive decided to apply for my firearms/ shotgun certificates.

On my firearms i have already decided to put down a .243 for deer and foxes (fingers crossed)

but i also want a bunny rifle and i cant decide what to go for.

my permissions are both farms at least two miles from the nearest towns/villages but they do have alot of live stock on them aswell as some workers houses. most of the fields are large and flat.

so what should i go for- .17hmr, .22lr or .22wmr

anyone got any ideas on practicality for the shoot aswell as ammo prices??

centrefire you're going the right route.

HMR will be fine round farm livestock, its horsey women get uppity about it but generally its a lot quieter than a shotgun as an example of where you can use it. Costs £10-14 per 50 shots so very similar to shotgun prices. If you want a .22lr ammo is dirt cheap and its reasonably quiet but you restrict range and get ricochets regularly

so is the wmr not any use?? does anyone have any experiance with them?

I used one for a year, it's a great round for fox if you are restricted to a rimfire, it will kill rabbits out to 200 yards, but only if you can hit them, beware the bullet drop.

I gave up on it and went back to HMR, more accurate and flatter shooting, fewer ricochets and much easier to find ammo for, for rabbits it is far more useful as an all rounder.
