BountyHunter
Hi all I had a quick search through the forums and note that there were a few posts last year re: rabbit control in Cornwall; I was wondering if any new vacancies had arisen? I have just started to get back into shooting after a bit of time out due to moving around after work. I am now back in my beloved County and reside near St Keverne but have no permissions as I moved from the farm where I used to shoot. Currently just using my air rifle (or would be) but will be renewing my shotgun cert and getting back to some 'proper' shooting soon. I am a BASC member and can get references if required. I am looking to shoot rabbit and maybe pigeon in the new year when I get my shot gun, willing to travel up to Truro or down to Penzance for an evenings shooting and can be relied upon to attend regularly if required. I will generally look to go in the evenings as I work full time. Any introductions or pointers would be very much appreciated. Thanks Matt

rimfire4969
I did offer some shooting near Perranporth before on here. All i may be able to offer is a bit of air rifle shooting at jackdaws, rooks and the odd crow. It would have to be early morning when the pigs get fed, cause this is when the birds try and help themselves to the food. It may lead to some other shooting in the future, but can't promise anything. Drop me a pm if you are interested.
Dave-G
Not being rude mate but you arn't trying hard enough. Cornwall is heaving with rabbits and I'll bet you can't go a mile away from any town or village boundary without finding a ready supply of bunnies to harvest. Even if someone else is supposed to be doing the job, if there are bunnies still there you will likely get permission unless you look or sound like someone they wouldn't want around. All you have to do is look - and knock doors to find the owner. A shooting card with a picture of rabbits etc and your contact number is good to hand to a potential landowner as you initialy approach them. Best of luck mate. That's not rude at all but good sound advice, and you are right I probably do need to get out there a bit more. The only thing I will say in my defence is that I believe all the fields around where I live are controlled by a syndicate. I really need to nab one of the hands when I see them in the fields and find out where to start knocking. Thanks for the input though. BTW - your sig says SW Cornwall - where abouts are you to? Dave-G
I have my name on my brothers permissions of about 2500 acres in patches scattered between Penzance and Truro, some of which I got for him. I live in Leicester but get down there most years to pig out on bunnies. 119 before running out of bullets was my best drive round night on a previously unshot 600 acre permission I secured on one of my holidays down there. Two nights later I copped for another 93 bunnies on the same farm. I know what you mean about syndicates but I bet there are loads of bunnies they arn't interested in clearing, with farmers waiting for someone a bit keener. Try some of the smaller farms to get yourself known on the patch then name drop after a few months building up references.
