ellebarto
Its a few months ago now but when I applied to get my FAC varied to include an auto shotgun I got a call from them asking if this variation should include the use of the shotgun indoors for tactical shooting. At the time I just thought it was some stupid civiy doing the job who didnt realise you only use shotguns in the UK for vermin and game but I've since heard other people talking about tactical shotgun although the details are skethcy! Sounds like some LA SWAT type indoor target stuff which might be fun. Does this actually existing in the UK or am I dreaming? Anyone have the lsightest idea what this is about? Shuck.
As Masterzone said, are you sure he didn't say/mean Practical Shotgun. There's plenty of stuff about it (PSG) on here, a few guys who do/run some PSG shoots are members, Neil Smith is one to ask.
wildrover77
Do you meen Target Shotgun? Similar to practical shotgun but not inside. Only inside shotguning I have heard of is western action shooting using double wads only(no shot) at Bridlington gun club

neil smith
Its a few months ago now but when I applied to get my FAC varied to include an auto shotgun I got a call from them asking if this variation should include the use of the shotgun indoors for tactical shooting. It sounds to me as if your FEO has their wires crossed. Are they confusing the term "tactical" with "practical" as they are very different things with regards to shooting in the UK. In the UK im not aware of any such "tactical" shooting that would be approved by a UK police force. Practical Shotgun however is a worldwide sport under the IPSC banner (International Practical Shooting Confederation) & represented within the UK by the UKPSA, matches can be indoor or outdoor on suitable ranges, IPSC hold individual matches for handgun, rifle & also shotgun, each match consist of a number of individual stages that can have anything from 2 or 3 targets each up to a max of 28, all shooting, loading & any movement required is all against the clock & along with the points scored gives an overall match winner by the end. Both the IPSC & UKPSA website's are a little dated & are to be replaced next year but should help explain the sport further. In any given year a number of championship matches are held & they are used to calculate a british champion. Many UKPSA members travel to matches right across europe & beyond, practical shotgun is very popular in Germany, Hungary, Finland, Italy & Greece. A UK lady is not only the current European but also the Pan -American IPSC Champion For 2011 I will be shooting the SK Cup in Germany in May & the Central European Open match in Hungary in July. In 2012 the first ever IPSC Shotgun World Championships are to be held, I will be there, flying the flag for the UK along with many other UK shooters. neil smith
Ah I see! Now that looks a lot of fun! I wonder if there is anywhere in Cheshire! Time to do some investigating! I dont know of any clubs in Cheshire but Borderguns in Shropshire is a practical shotgun only club thats Nr Bishops Castle, its an active club that holds club matches every single month & also at least one round of the UKPSA British Championships. Membership is cheap at only £30-£40 per year & then £10 per club match which includes lunch & tea/coffee. more details here... http://www.bordergunspsg.co.uk/ N
