lancashire area help offered

Recommended Posts

having past over what small shoot i had to a lad with an air rifle (the land has become not fit for fire arms use)

and as walking is a problem I thought it was better to give some one else a start.

anyway I am at a bit of a loose end at present I was/am offering to help anyone in the area who may have a pigeon

problem, I am experienced, have all the gear inc a quad and am free most of the time, also I am BASC and CA member, I also know

how difficult to find an honest reliable helper, especially when you have a lot of ground to cover and not enough time to do it.

I have transport as well in case you haven't.I'm not begging for any shooting permission or anything just offering to help or

maybe forge new friendships amongst fellow shooters, I also have a few very good trustworthy mates who I do a bit of foxing etc with

in case we need several guns on a particular day. I am 49yo family man who has hunted/shot since the age of 14 and was brought up in

Agriculture attending Agricultural college for several years.I am prepared to travel a reasonable distance to help and am more than willing

to teach anyone who wants advice, it seems a shame not to pass on this experience to future generations, anyway there you have it.

I get on with most people and am well kitted out

look forward to making some new friends

Keith

Thanks chaps

being disabled tends to make me feel a bit useless sometimes, the thing is my kids

are a bit young yet to pass on all the knowledge and information I have learned over

the last 37 years, much of which is becoming a dying art.I can still shoot a bit and have

some very good friends I sometimes go with, they help make it possible to do a days pigeon

shooting, ohh and the quad I bought when I sold my last motorcycle after I found I could

no longer ride it safely. I have designed and built pigeon magnets for others, no charge

and My knowledge is free for anyone who needs it, i have taken over 50 people clay shooting

at my local shoot, many who have never shot before, even my wife now shoots, has her own guns

license etc.(and she's bloody good :D ) there are times when I can't get out the house for days

on end, that's why I love forums like this, they keep me in touch, however there can be a lot of petty

fighting and digs made so people fall out, when in truth we all wan't the same thing, the continuation

of our sport, people looking at us arguing and falling out with each other are just laughing at us thinking

that these lot don't need us to stop them shooting, they are capable of doing it to themselves,

that's what I see, we need to pull together, show a united front, help those people coming into the sport

making it harder for them just puts them off and we as a group loose out. many people closely guard their shooting

which is understandable but there are those who are a bit greedy, and they are the ones who will shout and complain the loudest

at this kind of thread, well if the cap fits and all that :hmm: there are also some really good chaps on here who

go out of their way to help others, they know who they are and will always be special, I am proud to help

in any way I can, at the moment I am starting to arrange a charity clay shoot in aid of a young girl who died

from cancer a few weeks ago and started a charity called "fayes wish"

so far I haven't had any offers of pigeon shooting ste but if and when someone needs a hand they know where I am :good:

Keith,

when you know where the charity shoot will be let us know. I have been very fortunate to get out with iceman_lancs (really sound guy)to do some rabbiting and I have been looking for new permissions to repay the good deed. Loads of rejections, but as they say, they do not bite

How did you go on with your cartridge reloading, did you ever get sorted?

The reloading has been put on hold for now due to finances, christmas, kids etc

I will be advertising the charity shoot as soon as I have sorted things out and thanks for that

The weather is also keeping me indoors at the moment as well even my shed is minus 8

and that's with the bloody heater on

Keith. I am not really in a position to offer you any shooting at the moment but if any does come up where I need any help you can be sure that I will contact you.

If you are planning a charity shoot in the area please let me know the details as I would love to support it!

Good luck mate and Take Care!

Thanks Gordon mate

I'm waiting with baited breath for my boys to grow

up so I can pass some of my 30 odd years of knowledge

to them so they can carry on in my footsteps, The best part

of a days shooting for me is having a good day out and a good natter

and I love showing people all my skills and my contraptions that I have

built, my pigeon magnet is now on it's 4th MK  and iv'e spent

hours re-painting my deeks as I realised how unreal they looked :good:

whether it will make any difference is yet to be seen but we will see.

what use it it to have 30 odd years experiance in shooting and general

field craft and keeping it all to your self :hmm: ? being disabled is bad

enough but when you have spent all your life in the outdoors it's a real kick

in the nuts,so when ever i can get out it means a lot to me. The thing is it's

not fair for me to have a large amount of land to shoot over myself as I couldn't

possibly do it justice.

thanks

quad should be ready in a few weeks giving me better access

I also have a small trailer it can pull so it makes for easy

day shooting, all the gear etc in the trailer and 2 seats on

the trailer and brewing up gear, should be great fun
