stumacher
hi peeps, i'm thinking of buying a kemen km4 , does anybody have one of these guns ? what are your thoughts on it? are they steel proofed? how do you date them? many thanks for reading the thread
BlaserF3
A friend of mine shot one for 10 years with no problems,if they are Teague choked they should be OK for steel shot. I have shot both 30" and 32" but preferred the 30". They are a well balanced gun too. Mike Meggison of Kelbrook should be able to answer any other question, by the way he has various different stocks and forends available so you should be able to come away with a fitted gun. PhilR
They're almost an exact copy of a Perazzi. They had a flurry of interest in trap shooting when they came over here in the 90's as they were cheaper than the real thing. It is unlikely they'll be steel proofed as they pre-date the interest in steel shot. Having said that the Spanish know how to make shotguns and providing it is in good condition and the price is right then it could be a good buy. I think Mike Meggison at Kelbrook Lodge might be able to help with spares etc.
BlaserF3
philr, Have they stopped making them?
seeker
Kemens still around ... seems they still only make 3-400 a year and there is now a K4 mk II. As said excellent balance, especially the 32s and well finished. last 2 digits of serial number = proof date. Mike Meggision is your best bet for choice. I can't remember if made to measure is still in the price? Because many were spec'd to order you'll find various combinations of stocks, forend, ribs, barrel weight and finish .. etc. A good, but low volume gun, and if you're going to Kelbrooke ring and speak to MIKE first .... also give yourself time for a round of clays, its an excellent setup. BlaserF3
seeker.. I agree with your view of who to talk to. Used Kemens on Guntrader are substantially cheaper though.
The Sipe-ist
I bought one nearly a year ago and I absolutely love it. Mine is a 32'' model but the light barrel weight makes it handle like a dream yet the overall weight makes felt recoil negligible ( it does have an isis reducer fitted though). I love Perazzi's as well but thought I would try something different, so far I am not disappointed.
