TomV
Id seen a large grey in the garden at my mums house. There was only one thing that came to mind, so off I went to pick up my sqirrel trap from my house. Got the trap baited with bread and nuts by 2.30 and within an hour the big fat grey was caught. Is it worth eating and how quickly do you need to gut it?

libs
Well done, everyone dead helps our native species! I shot one yesterday with the .410 it was so close I didn't see it until the old man said 'whats that moving?' to which I replied BANG. TomV
Its one of the biggest greys ive seen! Will it still be ok to eat if i gut it tomorrow?
The Duncan
Yup that's a big fat old mo-fo! Not sure if it'll taste so fab if it's been garden fed for a while. I love squirrel meat - very creamy and worth the effort of skinning (tough ******* that way - be prepared to employ muscle when skinning!) Give it a go! And let us know how it tasted please
TomV
well that was the hardest thing ive had to skin so far in the end I just took the back legs off. Lightly fryed in olive oil, seasoning and some chilli powder. My verdict, very nice similar to chicken. I hope the next one I get wont be so tricky to do
Spaniel
I nearly shot a couple on Monday evening myself, but just as i was about to take a shot at 2 little fury things climbing up a tree, when a pigeon came in so i took that instead, as we were after the woodies after the pheasant shoot had ended

unclestuffy
I would gut the squirrel as quickly as possible. Boil the meat for 5 minutes to soften and then cook otherwise then it can become a bit tough. Abit like eating nutty pork!!
