turbo33
Just out of interest, I have just weighed the birds I shot today (see my post in sporting pics). Bearing in mind we have had most of the area under snow for nearly three weeks, I was amazed at the condition of these birds. They weighed in at: 3 at 560 gramms...1 lb 3 3/4 ozs 1 at 540 gramms...1 lb 3 ozs 1 at 510 gramms...1 lb 2 ozs. I am not sure what a good weight is, but suffice to say, you couldn't ask for better birds at any time of the year. Breasted out, there is as much meat as I would expect to see in the summer. Encouraging news

Encouraging news I can agree been out today shot 28 over wheat stuble all nice size for this time of year. They were shot in Broadway ( Worcestershire ). P.S Not weighed them though! shootnfish
went roost shooting about 2 weeks ago. first 3 i shot were were like razor blades no meat atall, but they were all full of rape so i went home thinking they would all be like that. then i went decoying on some rape christmas eve the first 2 i shot were the same very thin but i shot another 24 that day and they were all a good size. maybe some fair better than others or prehaps the thin ones were in thier twilight years. they certainly wont be getting any older
