Axe
I've been thinking about getting some Warne Quick Detach 30mm Scope Rings to go with Quad, as I have to remove the scope when changing barrels. Has anyone had any experience with them. Looking at them from pictures etc I cant quite see if the scope remains secure in the ring whislt detached. This is of great inportance as I need the scope to remain in the same position. I have found a set for £69.99 is this about the going rate, or should I llok at other makes? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
JRDS
Is the receiver drilled and trapped so you can fit a Weaver rail, as far as I am aware you won't get a set to fit std dovetails. I have a set on my 223 Cooper that fir to weaver type blocks and they are very well made and work fine.
Dunkield
Hi Axe, I had some Warne (normal) rings and they split vertically right down the middle, instead of accross the axis of the scope, so if moving the rings for any reason you could exect the zero to be off. Having said that they were great rings top quality - I think the Sportsman or Chambers do the best prices on them - but what you quoted seems about right. For what you are proposing, I wouldn't say they are the best solution (IF the QD's split in the same way that is) What do you have at the moment? and what is wrong with them, if anything? Axe
The fitment seems to be an issue, as by looking at examples they seem to fit on a wider dovetail rather than the standard 11mm I have on the quad. Stuart, they do seem to have a split along the vertical axis with two screws at top but the QD attachment at bottom. I currently have the Hawk Sport mounts which are just fine but require the four Hex Bolts to be undone each time. Whilst this is a pain in the preverbial, it does offer and exact re-mount with no shift in zero. I am eager to find a quick release system however, this will certainly improve things for me as far as calibre change is concerened.
JRDS
If you put a scope on with a smaller objective it may well mean you don't have to remove the scope to change the barrels. The QD Warnes have a lever on the side which releases the mounts you do not loosen any of the mounts screws just use the lever.
Axe
Thats what I want to acheive, a simple lever QD system. But, it is very important that when released, the scope rings do not shift position on the scope.
JRDS
Sounds like the QD Warnes are the way to go for you then. Get a quality Gunsmith to look at the feasability of drilling and tapping the action so you can fit a Weaver rail.
Axe
By that, I take it they dont do the mounts in 11mm then. Id that is the case, i'll stick with what I have. I really don't wnat to midify my new rifle.

I was interested in the Sako Qaud aswell but that put me off a little, as I know I would spend silly amounts of money on scopes, and barrels for it :*)
Axe
Hunter, the Buris Quad scope is little more than an adjustable turret scope with resettable rings for each calibre. What makes itworse is that its only a 3x9x40 without IR or AO or mil-dots. The barrels are not expensive, i'm paying £120 each. so by just having to calibres, I have saved on buying two CZ'z Shoots a peach, even after replacing barrels, so I have no concerns at all. She is good to go.
