yup, thats what i was thinking. but if less was used? then it may be an economical.

that alliant steel is expensive stuff. at 30p per cartridge, just in powder.

its just annoying that it is a "cgr" brand powder, i`d like the load data from the powder manufacturers.

either that or a trip to the proof house, 4 different loads made i could work out how good the powder is.

Why don't you use CSB0?

great powder used nothing else for 31/2" steel

1- its getting hard to find Im down to my last kg tub

2- over the last two winters with the much colder air temp it has proven unreliable when you nead it most some loads have been chronoed at 200fps slower in -1 c steel and 381 seem to stand up better to adverse weather coditions Iv done best in the field with a hot fed 209A primer and longshot powder in my 10g with steel this winter

thats where some powders dont make it. blue dot is very famous for its cold performance (lack of).

i try and keep loads above 9000psi, thats a good figure to have as its safe, and will burn.

what us homeloaders need to do is select the right powder for the right application, and actually use it right.

you can actually buy the wrong powder but use it in the right way.

i`ve used some powders that are way to fast for steel, but i`ve used them.

ian has a phrase, on his website, that a dirty burning powder isnt bad, just buy a cleaning rod. he is of course correct.

but my philosophy is just "high performance".

selecting a load that is in the right "lower pressure burn rate" ie, dont bother using most powders below 5000psi. titewad can go to 3000psi and then start to get really twitchy, temp variant, and **** performance.

once you`ve become farmilliar with a powder you can experiment in the dataset, not dangerously though.

i see some loads without pressure data and velocity data. just because a powder can make something come out the end of the barrel, doesnt mean its suitable for the application.

I used this load last year with a wad change to aBPD-tuff 10 it took 46grains to get it upto 1400fps-820bar 42grams of steel what a differece a wad makes it would take 48-49 grains to get to the 1500 mark with this wad

tecna is another powder in this range, it is supposed to be as good as csbo, 381, steel, longshot etc.

they all ahve similar charicteristics. they all need a good belt with a hot/magnum primer.

i think they are double base.

all have the recipes for driving 2oz loads of lead.
