wildfowler.250
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone on here has tried the duck decoys from the states with the motorized/rotating wings? If so, how well do they work and can you place them over water,(with a large pole or similar)? Thanks
TJ91
a friend of myne bought a huge mallard decoy with rotating wings although it wasnt motorized, in abit of wind the wings did turn well. He used it a few times over water on the estuary and on stubbles (along with a few floating/standing decoys he said the ducks came in but as they got close they spooked away from iti have always thought they look abit strnage but they may work well in some places
garymc
I *think* they are sometimes referred to as mojo decoys. We used one of the motorised on our syndicate on the first morning of the season and worked very very well. I have one of the wind propelled ones and with a bit of wind they seem to be quite effective. Responses from ducks have been good and it has either landed them in the decoy spread or brought them in close enough for a shot.
wildfowler.250
Thanks for the replies! I was looking at this model as it is mostly teal and wigeon I shoot and I thought the teal decoy would be smaller and less likely to spook birds http://ww w.cabelas.com/product/Mojo-Outdoors8482-Mojo-Teal-Decoy/727664.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3DMojo%2BOutdoors%2599%2BMojo%2BTeal%2BDecoy%26x%3D23%26y%3D11%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=Mojo+Outdoors%C2%99+Mojo+Teal+Decoy&WTz_l=Header;Search-All%20Products;Search-All%20Products I would just have to find a way of putting it out at low tide and making sure that it's high enough that the water doesn't cover it Again many thanks! anser2
A mate of mine has one for use on the saltings which he uses coupled with floating decoys. I think they are not worth the extra weight and bulk when having to walk across the marsh. We often shoot a couple of hundred yards apart , him with the mojo + floaters while I use standard floating decoys and there is no diffrence between us in the bag. I could probably pick up a dozen of the fold up decoys for around the same price,(probably cheaper) so maybe that is a better idea. Some movement in a decoy pattern always looks good but I suppose if the birds are coming in then normal deeks will work anyway ATB
