SilentKill
am i right in believing that the good old .22 parker hale mod will work just as good on a 17hmr should do! but be warned the HMR is a very destructive round to Moderator internals! so make sure its cleaned more often! bullet boy
I've always used a SAK mod which is good enough! The Parker-Hale mod is also good.
Frenchieboy
Any .22LR Sound Mod will also fit and work on a 17HMR but you have to remember that the 17HMR can be a bit more destructive than the .22LR as far as sound mods are concerned. Whatever sound mod you chose to use make sure that it is easily strippable so that you can clean and check the internals regularly. I use a SAK mod on my CZ452 17HMR and see no reason to want to change to any other make. A sound mod on a .17HMR is not going to be quite as effective as it will be on a .22LR as you will never be able to eliminate the "sonic crack" that is given off but they do make quite a big difference and I have never had any problems with noise when out shooting with my "Hummer", especially when there is a bit of wind to help disperse any noise. Just as a guide I uncsrew the outer cover from my SAK mod (without having to remove it from the rifle) and clean the internals around every 100 rounds. By doing this my SAK is just as good as new after well over a year of heavy usage!
